TRI-SOLFEN USEAGE AT MUELSING
There’s nothing worse than flystrike. However, as you are well aware, the Australian sheep industry faces massive political and consumer pressure on animal welfare issues around mulesing. So while an alternative to mulesing is under way, there’s no reason pain and suffering should be – especially now that Tri-solfen has proven to pay for itself.
Better Choices is better for all
More and more wool growers are seeing the benefits of using Tri-solfen at mulesing: from reducing the lambs’ discomfort to demonstrating their concern for the long-term welfare of their sheep.
Australian wool growers are sending a very clear message to wool customers and retailers around the world that animal welfare comes first with Australian woolgrowers. In 2010, the number of declared wool bales offered for sale that had been shorn from sheep treated with Tri-solfen at mulesing increased by 75% (AWEX).
Real return on investment
With wool prices double what they were a year ago, it only makes sense to give each lamb the best start in life. If the average value of a lamb is $80, a sheep producer only needs to wean another one of every hundred lambs (or 1%) of lambs for Tri-solfen to pay for itself.
No veterinary farm visit required
Tri-solfen is only available from veterinarians; however no farm visit is needed. If you are using Tri-solfen this year, it’s important that you register or renew your registration. This can be completed either on-line at www.betterchoices.com.au or you can call 1800 678 368 from 9am to 4pm EST.
If you would like discuss how Tri-solfen can work for you, please contact us to arrange a suitable time.
