SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER Welcome to our September newsletter and the onset of milder weather. As nice as it is to have warmer days- be aware, snakes are about. We have had 2 cats int the clinic already suffering from snake bite. The initial symptoms in cats are weakness and lethargy progressing to complete paralysis. Dogs can show a variety of symptoms from salivation and collapse to seizures. If you suspect your pet has been bitten, contact us at either clinic immediately as the sooner we can treat them, the higher their chances are of surviving. Louise will be full time for the next 2 weeks while staff are on leave, then she will be working 3 days per week. Monique has just returned from Western Australia visiting family. Jasmine is off to Alice Springs for an Equine Conference and is then taking a weeks leave to spend time with family. Both Louise and Monique will be training up on cattle reproduction/scanning and Jasmine is aiding Louise with the equine side of things. NATIONAL DESEXING MONTH July is National Desexing Month. Be a responsible Pet Owner and have your pet desexed. Your name will go in a draw to win the cost of your desexing back. Did you know: * Pets can be desexed from 4 months of age. * Pets do not need to have a litter before desexing. Desexing your pets before they breed greatly reduces the risk of mammary cancer and uterine infections. * Your pets metabolism may decrease a litter after desexing but the major cause of overweight pets is too much food and not enough exercise!! for more information please visit: http://www.ndn.org.au SATURDAY MORNINGS If you are having trouble making time during the week for your pets vaccinations, please keep in mind that we are open Saturday mornings between 9.00am and 11.00am. We are also available 24 hours a day for emergencies. DENTAL MONTH The dental months of May and June have come to an end. Thanks to those who took advantage of the discounts. HENDRA VIRUS
